[TUT] Connecting to JMS (Alt. Method, Less Laggy)

Well, first off, let me say that I find this method, a ton.. and I mean a TON BETTER than the PacketiX way, which is WAY TOO LAGGY in my honest opinion.

For those who actually still play JMS or still WANT to play JMS, I made this little guide showing you the alternative and less laggy (seriously, there is almost NO in game lag or pick up lag for me.)

Well! Onto the guide then (PICTURE HEAVY, but I'll put them into spoilers to make less space on here)

First of all, I am using Windows XP at the moment (My laptop's 7, but it's being worked on so I am forced to use my old PC), so please try to find the Vista/7 equivalents of this tutorial, once I get my laptop back I'll update the guide so it's for Win7/Vista.

Ok, first go to control panel, then to your network connections.

You should have the window with a list of the connections (wireless, lan, vpn) that you currently have. Next,click on "Create A New Connection"

A window will pop up, click next, then follow the pictures in my spoiler

Then click Finish, and you're done! You should have a new VPN connection named whatever you named it (I named it MapleJMS on my PC, and Maplestory Japan on the tutorial)

Next, right click your new connection and click properties! You will enter the IP of the VPN into the box that appears first... But next, follow the pictures and make sure you have these setting, or it will not work!

Click OK, OK, and OK for everything. Now to connect, just double click on the connection, and put in the password and ID I give along with the VPN address, and click connect. Voila! To JMS you go!

Now, you are probably wondering, or going to ask... "Why should I wait for you to post the VPN and Password? I'd rather do it myself."

Good idea, lol, if you wanna know, just go to IPFREE.cn's forum at http://bbs.ipfree.cn

Register a forum account, use google translator if you have to, but it's not too figure out. Then go to their VPN section on the forum, look for the most recent, reply to the topic to get the ID/Pass at the bottom. Make sure you get a Japan VPN! The American ones do connect fast, but lag the same as PacketiX in my opinion, plus there is a Japan VPN posted everyday anyway.

No, as soon as the JMS HackShield/AnhLab/w.e is loading, I untick it, then the game starts.

Odd, I thought there was an IP check at the char selection screen. Maybe you're naturally not IP banned.

Yeah, you have to make sure the proxy is on when you are selecting the character, but then you can turn it off once you've gotten logged onto the character. What Aya meant by ticking at Ahnlab loading screen, was that you just keep the proxy on after ahnlab loads until you select your character.

Since I have absolutely no way of being able to do anything else right now, I guess I'll try it. However, I went to try to add that network adaptor and the authentication failed. :X

I'll download JMS for now and hope you get a working authentication soon.


I can't even register for that website. No idea why. It asks me if I'm a boy or a girl. No matter what I put in the box, it just gives me an error. I'm even copying the 男生 from the chinese text and it says it's wrong. The hell?

I cant access the VPN section for some reason. The websites prompts me with this message : Access conditions:
