I was logged in a few minutes ago, got DCed, started getting a message saying that the game is down, and there's no update notice on the site.

If I hadn't been able to log in before that, I might think the same. However, given that, I think it's probably just another server crash, restart, or emergency patch / server check that they forgot to announce (it's happened before). So unless you had login issues like an hour ago, just wait a bit and it'll probably work fine again.

I've been periodically checking for the past few hours. Then I decided to check if it would work with Packetix or Hotspot shield, and it did. Atm, I am patching over Hotspot shield. When I first joined KMS I was IP banned, but they lifted it pretty soon after I joined...otherwise I doubt I would have stayed this long.

Yeah, a lot of people that joined during your time started off with the IP ban. I started quite a bit before that happened and never got IP banned.

Seeing as I DCed right at 1:00am PST, I still think something is up with the server at the moment. If you've been messing with it for a few hours, then yeah, something different is definitely going on for you.

A lot of people weren't IP banned during the old IP ban, KOC. They sort of ban random IP ranges sometimes... it's happened twice that I'm aware of in the past.

Some people living on the same street had different situations (one was IP banned, one wasn't), even.

Edit: Oh crap. I can connect with HSS, too, but not without. Fuuuuck... but why would it work fine earlier with no patch in between, randomly DC me, and -then- do it? o_O

The only thing that's changed between then and now is that there was a HackShield update. As has been covered in the past, the first IP blocks in MS were in the antihack software, gameguard (they all have better methods now though). Most antihacking software has an IP block feature in certain versions, perhaps they just updated to the wrong one or enabled something they didn't mean to. :<

Download hotspot shield -> install it -> run it -> push connect. It's a pretty simple and basic program.

If the game works for you with HSS active but not without it, chances are yes, you're IP banned by KMS' HackShield at the moment.

I'm pretty sure it was just an accidental ticking of a bad setting in a hackshield update. They'll probably fix it, but until then a small range of IPs will probably remain banned for a while.

I don't really feel like playing with HSS atm. Going to go out and see a movie or something. xd

Yeah, they're usually fast about it because people complain on Insoya and the officials. The only one that lasted longer was the first one.

If your are still IP banned, please use Hotspot Shield. Download it, Install it, Connect it. 3 Steps comeon...

Hotspot Shield is hands down the easiest way to bypass the IP ban, but there's no way for you to actually lift the ban on your end lol. As long as people continue to complain on the KMS forums (insoya, official, etc), they'll know there's still a problem and keep tinkering with it until the banned IP ranges are no longer banned. It's a waiting game.

As said above, all you have to do with HSS is download it, install it, and run it. You don't even have to set it up, just hit connect. If you still can't log on, disconnect it and reconnect it and you should get an IP that isn't banned at some point. Since the IP range that is banned is very small though, it shouldn't take more than your first try.

I had other reasons why I didn't feel like logging on.
