Exp Egg?

What am I supposed to do with the EXP Egg? I went to goldrich in the FM and he's not doing anything.

You gotta give it to goldrich in the leaving map. He'll have a light bulb over his head if you have an exp egg in your inventory.

Could the compass event be over? Cause I'm not getting another compass/letters aren't dropping anymore :(
