View Full Version : Program better than Fraps.

I'm sorry if this has already been asked (I couldn't find a thread about it), but is there a program, which is better than Fraps? I remember, that when I was recording in eMS, the file size was around 4 GB for a 5 minute video. Sure I was using 30FPS, but 4GB is still huge.

I can't think of better programs that are in public-use. However, using this (link (www.google.fi)) website might help you. I've always been using Fraps or Hypercam for recording. And I believe 5 min video shouldn't be 4 GB. You could try it again now, a bit smaller FPS and newest fraps.

Fraps > all.
Go to settings, and tick "half size". That will shrink the file size, at the cost of quality. :/
If it's still huge after that... Hyper cam? (EITHER PIRATE A FULL VERSION, OR CROP OUT "unregistered hypercam". I BEG OF YOU IF YOU'RE USING IT FOR VIDEOS. ;-; )

"Half size" option makes the videos awful.
But the max resolution MS has is 600x800, right? At least that's the resolution my screenshots are. So if Fraps usually records at 1024x1280 and there's a way to make the video resolution 600x800, I'll still save some space, won't I? But as far as I know, there isn't such option in Fraps (custom resolution).

Anyway, I'll try Hyper cam too.

Fraps might be big, but it's got great quality. More file size you cut, less quality you'll have. :/
Not sure if audio would be more than a few MBs per minute.

Just curious, but how large are the half size files? xD
(I think it works by cutting the resolution in half, so playing it at the same res as full size will make it ugly. Play it at half the res and it should just look smaller.)

Yeah Fraps makes vids huge, just making a vid took 10gb+ space
