This isn't youtube, but I found a video from two years ago of me at a tournament. I thought it was pretty funny to watch, so I thought you might enjoy it.

PS: I got owned. :(

lol @ the guy with read gear throwing his chest forward/arms backward when he kicked.

Really, are you not allowed to punch? Jump in with a Thrust to the gut as soon as he* says "go" and no kicking for them. ;D

*Man in suit got in way. :[

I, myself, wasn't allowed to punch. If you're that much taller than you're opponent, you are not allowed to use hand techniques. That's part of the reason why I had a hard time with it. My other ailment was the fact that I wasn't feeling well that day. Now, after almost two years more of training, I realize how much better I could have done. I kind of look patheticly slow there.

Are you fekking serious? Who came up with that? <_<
Why not make the little people attack in a straight line (Tiger-like in kempo or w/e I did, not sure about Tae Kwon Do) while you're at it? Dx
If you're that short, you should learn to use punches to your advantage, not get use to everyone kicking. .__.

Well... In the stupid division I was under when I was a part of ATA, they made a rule that punches to the face were illegal. Thus, me being tall and head shots are extremely easy for me, especially with my fists, they just restrict me from hand techniques out of saftey. I agree that it's very stupid, but I had to learn how to cope with it.

Don't you wear mouth guards for that very reason? Again, I don't know much about Tae Kwon Do, but I thought martial arts were about discipline. Is it really that hard to control your fist from touching their nose? D:

Just wondering, but how old were you then? If they were 6~8, forget what I said, that makes some sense. 10~12+... Lol.

I was 16 then. Lol. I don't really know much about the past of the programs that ATA is under, but they apparently only allow kicks to the head to avoid injuries -- which I don't get because a kick is a hell of a lot more powerful than a punch -- and they only allow punches to the body. I agree that 13+ should be able to do more, but apparently they've been sued for it or something. I really don't like Western-Style Martial Arts for this very reason. They don't really teach you life-threatening stuff. They only care about not being sued and winning tournaments.

Teach them about wavers. :D If that doesn't work... try a better lawyer? xP
