Oh I see now that the damage builds up in a way, as your attacks continue in the chain?

Yeah, it works kind of like Aran's combo. The first hit is weak as hell, the second is a little stronger, the third is even stronger. Then you advance to 2nd job, where you get Quad Blow, and the 4th hit is strong as fuck.
