No, Hangame and Nexon Maplestory are linked up.
Its been like that for a long time.

Hangame and Nexon work hand-and-hand together on MapleStory. You know that Nexon owns Hangame, right?

No, hangame is not owned by Nexon or maybe a samll fraction of the Japanese branch, it is owned by NHN who also owns ijji, Hangame Korea, and Ourgame
