I thought that someone should make a guide, how to get started with learning korean. I know that there is a guide but it mainly only talks about how do vowels and stuff sound. And the word chart is nice but if you dont know korean very well then you always have to copy text from word chart. There is no guide how to start combining things to make up words, sentences etc.
Flaming is not allowed,
thanks.

This would be very helpful, though I don't think many people here are very fluent in Korean. Some just know the basics or use Google Translator. Good idea though.

I've seen a few Korean speakers here. I have just begun to learn Korean, and I will be fluent in it (none of this "trying" or "want to be" crap, I will be ;) ). This (http://hompi.sogang.ac.kr/korean/) site is pretty good, if you are a grammar type person, rather than those podcasts which I can't stand, or I have 4 great courses in PDF form, with lots of audio for practice, that I could lend to anyone that wished to really learn, not just some phrases. I also have sseveral great grammars.

Perhaps we could have a discussion thread where learners are natives could speak in Korean?

I'm probably the only linguist on the site, so don't hesitate to ask me about anything language related. ;)

I am more interested in learning "writing language" than speech since i only need to write and read to communicate in kms...

So being a native speaker of Korean makes you a linguist? :P

Just learning languages doesn't make you a linguist. I'm not trying to make myself look better, I just know I know a lot about languages. Who else is a linguist (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/linguist) (both definitions fit me)?

I am learning and highly interested in languages.
I'm learning Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

I can't proclaim I am a linguist because I'm not even in college, but I can hold simple conversations in Chinese and communicate somewhat ok with those on kMS though its more with broken Korean.

This isn't an argument about who's a better "linguist" though, please don't assume things though.

this arguing is stupid & pointless - let's get back to the topic at hand.

I don't know how an argument started, nor did I ever say or try to say I was better than anyone else, I was only stating I could help anyone get started with learning Korean if they wanted, no need to get offensive/defensive. I said that I was probably the only linguist here because this is of course a video game forum, not a language forum, and I don't know many people that are language lovers and love video games too, I was never trying to offend anyone.
