I got this quest by accident, which gave me that machine etc item. I couldn't drop or sell it so I decided to forfeit the quest. But I still couldn't get rid of the item, and now I can't get the quest back to complete it. The NPC still has the lightbulb above his head though and the quest is apparently available in my quest log.

i took this quest too. I carried it a bit while i was grinding and then suddenly it said quest is complete.

It's one of the exp quests. Basically, you hold it in your inventory until you've gained the % it wants you to, and then you turn in the quest.

I guess it glitches if you forfeit the quest, though. Didn't know that, lol.
